Flying change

A flying change is a highly skilled dressage maneuver where the horse changes its canter lead in the air during the suspension phase of the gait. This movement is performed without breaking into a trot, making it appear as though the horse is "flying" from one lead to the other. Flying changes require a high level of athleticism, timing, and coordination, as the horse must switch leads simultaneously with its front and hind legs while maintaining the rhythm and balance of the canter. They are essential in advanced dressage and are a testament to the horse’s training, suppleness, and the subtle communication between horse and rider.
